Lars Veldwijk signs for KV Kortrijk

The 25-year-old Dutch-born striker left English Championship side Nottingham Forest on a free transfer to sign at the former club of national team goalkeeper Darren Keet.

Veldwijk had scored for Forest in the League Cup earlier this season, but could not be guaranteed regular football and has moved on.

He spent last season on loan at Dutch side PEC Zwolle, where he excelled, netting 14 goals in 36 starts.

Veldwijk qualifies for Bafana through his father, who was born in South Africa, and recently expressed an interest in representing the national side.

A proven goalscorer in Europe is something the Bafana squads lacks and if he can hit form in Belgium, he should be an interesting proposition for coach Shakes Mashaba.
