United are said to be ready to open contract talks with Pogba - in a bid to fend off the reported interest from Real Madrid.
However, according to SunSport, the club-record signing wants a £500,000 (R9.23m) a week to put him up with Sanchez as the club's top earner.
Real boss Zinedine Zidane hopes to land fellow Frenchman Pogba as well as Chelsea's Eden Hazard as part of his Bernabeu off-season overhaul.
But while Pogba, 26, is said to be keen on the idea of working with Zidane, United are reluctant on allowing their influential performer to depart for a second time.
Any new deal would need a huge wage increase with Pogba currently on a basic of £300,000 (R5.5m) a week, significantly less than Sanchez - who is the highest paid player in the history of the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Sanchez's turbulent stay at Old Trafford is reportedly on the brink of ending if the club can find a buyer in the next transfer window.
