FA Cup match report Arsenal v Chelsea

Arsenal have been crowned FA Cup champions for a record 14th time after overcoming Chelsea in the final on Saturday evening.

The headline team news saw Willy Caballero becoming Chelsea's oldest player to play in the final as N'Golo Kante was only fit enough for the bench while Hector Bellerin was the Gunners' only change from the win over Watford.

The Blues were in front in the fifth minute after Olivier Giroud's cutback in the area teed up Christian Pulisic, who found the bottom corner from close range.

Pulisic went in for a second five minutes later but after riding off a few challengers from the righta, he failed to get the better of Gunners shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled matters two minutes to the half-hour mark after beating Caballero from the penalty spot following a foul on the Gabon international by Cesar Azpilicueta.

That was to be Azpilicueta's last involvement after the Spaniard went off with a hamstring issue on 33 minutes and had his spot was taken by Andreas Christensen.

Chelsea were hit with another forced withdrawal a minute after the break as Pulisic departed with a hamstring injury following a strike on goal, with AS Roma-bound Pedro comong on as his replacement.

Aubameyang put the Gunners in the driving seat after twisting and turning in the area before picking out the far corner with a neat lob over the on-rushing Caballero after the hour mark.

Chelsea' woes worsened six minutes later as Mateo Kovacic was dismissed after a second bookable offence after lunging at Granit Xhaka.

Despite being a man down, the Blues pushed for an equaliser the closing stages of the match but the Gunners were able to hold out for the win to clinch their first FA Cup title since 2017.
