FA Cup match report Arsenal v Manchester City

Arsenal advanced to a record 21st FA Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners welcomed back Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Dani Ceballos after the duo started on the bench against Liverpool; while Claudio Bravo's injury ensured Ederson remained in goal for City.

Aubameyang found a big opening as he evaded the offside trap to go clear from David Luiz's pass only to blast straight at Ederson, who had no problems parrying minutes later.

The Gabon international atoned for the miss when he got on the end of a cross from Nicolas Pepe to tuck into the far corner on 19 minutes after creating space at the back-post.

Shkodran Mustafi went close to doubling their lead when he dodged Ilkay Gundogan for a header following a corner, but Ederson palmed away right before halftime.

Raheem Sterling looked to spring the Citizens to life early in the second half, but he drew blanks with not one but two clear openings in front of goal.

Emiliano Martinez was tested for the first time on 55 minutes when Riyad Mahrez cut in from the left to fashion a low shot, which the Argentine managed to keep out at his near post..

The Gunners however put the game beyond reach after Aubameyang beat the offside trap to go clear with Ederson for a composed finish in the last 20 minutes.

Mikel Arteta decided to bring a refreshed approach soon after going further ahead, with the removal of Ivorian Pepe for Joe Willock taking place.

Aymeric Laporte went close to giving City a lifeline, but found the outside post late on as the Gunners progressed to the final, where they could face Manchester United or Chelsea.
