Chelsea will meet Arsenal in the FA Cup final following a 3-1 triumph over Manchester United on Sunday evening.
Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial dropped out of the United side as Chelsea manager Frank Lampard brough in Willy Caballero and Reece James.
While there were hardly any big chances early on, Bruno Fernandes went close to giving United the lead from a free-kick on the edge of the area after the half-hour mark, but Caballero palmed the effort over the crossbar.
Chelsea, at the other end, got a clear opening off a misplaced pass however Mason Mount failed to take advantage as David De Gea parried.
The Red Devils introduced Martial, who replaced an injured Eric Bailly on the stroke of halftime following a lengthy stoppage at the end of the first half.
Chelsea hit the front after 11 minutes in first-half stoppage time when a ball from Cesar Azpilicueta from the right found Olivier Giroud who side-footed past De Gea.
Another blunder from the Red Devils shot-stopper resulted in the game's second goal a minute after halftime as Mount's long range drive crept into the near corner, with De Gea helping the ball into the net.
Harry Maguire should've had his side on the board on 55 minutes, but headed straight at Caballero following a free-kick from the right as time began to run out for the 12-time winners.
De Gea's woeful evening took another turn when a touch by Maguire off a cross from the left trickled into the near post with 74 minutes played to put the result beyond United.
The Red Devils were given some reprieve six minutes to full-time when Fernandes slammed home from the penalty spot after Martial was brought down in the area.
There was to be no comeback though as the Blues set up a date with local rivals Arsenal in the final scheduled for next month.
