Barcelona are reportedly prepared to spend as much as €70 million (R1.3 billion) on a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalan giants are currently reaping the rewards of their investment in the Polish marksman.
The LALIGA table-toppers paid €45 million (R856 million) to Bayern Munich in 2022 for his services, and despite currently being 36 years old, the striker continues to demonstrate his quality.

No other forward in Europe's top five leagues has more goals than the Pole, and it appears he will remain in Catalonia at least until 2027, having allegedly triggered the option for a further year by playing over 55% of matches for the Spanish giants.
However, it seems Barcelona are being proactive in planning for his eventual replacement and have reportedly identified Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres as his successor.
Like Lewandowski, Gyokeres is performing at an exceptionally high level and is currently the most prolific first-division striker in all of Europe, having scored 16 goals in Liga Portugal so far this campaign.
According to Sport, Barcelona have devised a plan to sign the Stockholm native, with intentions of spending €70 million at the end of the season.
However, they reportedly aim to loan him back to Sporting CP for the duration of the 2025/26 campaign in an attempt to mitigate his mooted €100 million (R1.9 million) release clause.
