Raphinha: Why I rejected Chelsea for Barca

Barcelona forward Raphinha has explained why he rejected a move to Premier League giants Chelsea in the recent transfer window.

After impressing for Leeds United last season, the Brazilian attacker earned himself a big-money move to the Camp Nou in a deal reportedly worth £57million.

There were reports that Chelsea and Arsenal were also interested in a move for the 25-year-old, but he opted to join the club of his dreams after some advice from Neymar.

"I rejected Chelsea because my dream was to wear the Barcelona shirt," Raphinha said, as per the Sun.

"I talked to Neymar about a move and he told me that if I get to Barcelona then I won't regret and he was right," he added.

The former Leeds talisman admits he was surprised by the atmosphere at the Catalan giants when he first arrived.

"What surprised me in the club? Without a doubt the warm welcome of the fans, the coaching staff and the players, everyone is good and looking to help the new players," he added.
