The 17-year-old prodigy, who has already broken several records, is being hailed as the best young player in the world.

Lewandowski admitted he was left in awe when he first encountered Yamal.

"The first time I saw Lamine Yamal in training, he was 15 years old," he revealed per Fabrizio Romano via Sportskeeda.

"I've seen a lot of talent in my life, but never like that: oh my God, it was amazing. How does he do that at that age? I swear it's impossible."

Paul Pogba was another player who lavished praise on the youngster.

"Lamine Yamal is cold," the Frenchman said.

"He has been killing it, during the Euros and even since the start of this season. So, he's nice, cold. He's the best young player in the world. Can you imagine if he wins the Champions League this year?"

Lamine Yamal's rise has been meteoric. Last season, he broke into the first team and became the youngest player of the 21st century to start a LALIGA match.

A week later, he became the youngest player this century to provide an assist in the Spanish top flight.
