Barca to 'battle' Real Madrid for Bayern star

FC Barcelona are reportedly ready to battle it out with rivals Real Madrid for a certain Bayern Munich star.

Alphonso Davies' future at the Bavarians remains uncertain, with his current contract set to expire at the end of this season.

Bayern have reportedly been trying to convince the Canada international to sign an extension over the last year, but have not been successful in that regard.

According to BILD Sport, Barcelona have now entered the race to sign the Bayern left-back next season on a free transfer.

Manchester United and Los Blancos are the other two sides said to be keen on Davies, with both clubs hoping to bolster their left-back options next season.

The reports add that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick wants to reunite with Davies in Catalonia next season, having managed the full-back during his stint with the Bavarians.

Earlier this season, Davies claimed his only focus was competing for Bayern this season.

"My full focus is on this team. I'm playing here for Bayern Munich now, and that's what I'm concentrating on," Davies told Bild in September.

"I want to win every game. That's why I'm not thinking about it at the moment. Regardless of whether I stay or leave the club, I will always carry this club in my heart."

"You'll have to talk to my agent about that. My focus right now is on winning every game. I'm not thinking about the other topic at the moment."
