Barca stars call for investigation after incident with African star

Barcelona are calling for an incident involving an African star to be investigated after their latest LALIGA encounter ended in defeat.

The Catalan giants suffered their second defeat of the season, losing to Real Sociedad by a goal to nil on Sunday after a 33rd-minute strike by Sheraldo Becker.

Hansi Flick's side will still maintain their spot at the top of the table going into the international break, with 11 wins from 13 matches.

Despite this, players are upset due to an incident that could have altered the outcome of the encounter.

Robert Lewandowski looked to have opened the scoring within the first 15 minutes of the game, but his effort was disallowed for offside following a VAR check.

Officials seemed to have mistaken the foot of Real Sociedad defender Nayef Aguerd for that of the Polish striker, and the goal was ruled out as a result.

Speaking after the game, Barca stars Marc Casado and Inaki Pena commented on the issue, with both players calling for the decision to be reviewed.

"The League will have to review whether it was Lewandowski's foot or not," Casado said per Yahoo Sports

"It would be serious if they disallowed a goal that was actually legal."

Pena, meanwhile, called for the league to take action.

"If there is a possible error in the marking of Lewandowski's foot, an error so clear and so serious, the League should act because that's what the VAR is for, that's what the lines that draw are for and if it was a mistake, let it be proven and investigated and let them act."
