FC Barcelona claimed the bragging rights in the local Catalan derby after thumping Girona FC 4-1 on Sunday evening.
Blaugrana coach Hansi Flick made four changes from the win over Osasuna on Thursday, as Robert Lewandowski, Ronald Araujo, Fermin Lopez and Gerard Martín were restored to the set up.
This was the tenth competitive meeting between the two Catalan outfits, with Barcelona winning four of the previous meetings compared to Girona's solitary victory.
The game's first big chance arrived on 22 minutes when the returning Araujo got on the end of a corner but saw his header brilliantly palmed away by Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.
With time running out in the first half, the home side were gifted the opening goal in the 44th minute when Girona defender Ladislav Krejci deflected Yamal's free-kick into his own net.
Girona, however, got off to a lovely start in the second half when Arnaut Danjuma got on the end of Daley Blind's cross and calmly placed the ball beyond Barcelona goalkeeper Arnaut Danjuma.
Barcelona hit back in the 61st minute when Lopez headed the ball into the path of Lewandowski, who acrobatically put the ball through Gazzaniga's legs for his 24th league goal of the season.
Lewandowski bagged his second and Barcelona's with 13 minutes left on the clock with another composed finish, with Frenkie de Jong grabbing the plaudits after his marauding run to set up the goal.
There was enough time for a fourth goal, as Ferran Torres got in on the act on 86 minutes with a simple finish in the box to round off the scoring after getting on the end of Martin's through-ball.
