According to Sport, the Catalan giants have now submitted to Messi's camp a first offer for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's services, said to be worth €25 million (R520 million) a season, with the proposed deal set to run until June 2025.
The report also claims that Blaugrana president Joan Laporta and company believe the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion will accept the offer as his plan is to remain in Europe beyond this season.

Following Barca's LaLiga triumph on the weekend, Laporta confirmed he had soothed things between himself and Messi and stated he was confident that the fairy-tale homecoming was on the cards.
"I have spoken with him recently to rectify the situation after I had to put the club before everything, even him, the best player in the world," Laporta said, according to TV3.
"It was a pleasant conversation. We have recovered the relationship we have had for many years.
"With all due respect to Saudi Arabia – where a lot of good work and investment is taking place around the league there – Barca is Barca. Barca is his home. Barca can compete with anyone.
"The history this club has and the feeling of our 400 million supporters is so strong."
