Ramos names Barca legend as 'most magical' opponent

Paris Saint-Germain star Sergio Ramos has named an FC Barcelona legend as the "most magical" footballer he has seen grace a pitch, and it is not his former El Clasico rival and current teammate Lionel Messi.

The Spanish centre-back is considered by many to be among the greatest defenders of the past 15 years, having won four UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid and a number of individual prizes too, including two The Best FIFA Defender of the Season awards.

During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 180-capped Spain international faced some of the best talents in the sport, including Thierry Henry, Andres Iniesta, Luis Suarez, and Messi.

However, Ramos has now revealed that, for him, no footballer comes close to one of Barca's iconic No. 10s, Ronaldinho.

"I think he (Ronaldinho) has been the most magical soccer player I have seen in the history of football," the Spaniard said in an interview on PSG's official YouTube channel.

"I have seen him do things I have not seen again throughout my life.

"For me, his is a different player. He's a magician, he is magical in everything he has done.

"He's a genius."

While Ramos admitted that Ronaldinho comes out tops in terms of talent, no opponent has faced the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner more times than Messi, who was on the opposing side on 44 occasions, according to Transfermarkt, and many of them were feisty affairs too.

Ronaldinho, meanwhile, faced the 36-year-old in a just nine matches, but seemingly left the biggest impression on Ramos.
