The Netherlands and Ecuador played to a 1-1 draw in Group A on Friday evening, which means hosts Qatar have been eliminated from the World Cup.
Enner Valencia, who nabbed a double on the opening day started for Ecuador with Davy Klaaasen and Steven Bergwijn featured up top alongside Coady Gakpo for the Oranje.
The Dutch went ahead after six minutes from kick-off where a probing ball around the six-yard area entered the path of Gakpo and the highly-rated figure took aim to fire in the near corner.
Ecuador began to bomb forward through ventures from the left which resulted in balls delivered balls in behind the defence of the three-time World Cup finalists.
Valencia was close to bring the South American back on equal terms a little after the half-hour mark where he worked an angle outside to bring a fine stop of goalkeeper Andries Noppert.
Ecuador looked to have gone level on the stroke of halftime off a low rasping drive by Pervis Estupinan from a corner, but it was disallowed for offside after a review by the Video Assistant Referee.
No activity from the bench of Ecuador showed though the Dutch provided an alteration with Memphis Depay introduced and Klaasen sacrificed for the FC Barcelona forward.
The South Americans eventually levelled three minutes in the second half when Valencia charged on a teasing ball from a spill by Noppert and turned home following an initial shot by Estupinan.
Ecuador nearly were ahead for the first time towards the final stages where a speculative shot around the area by Gonzalo Plata off a loose ball came off the upright before it bounced back into play.
However, the Dutch showed purpose in a flick by Depay to Gakpo which led to an opening that weren't pounced and 1-1 it finished where the host Qatar exited the tournament through this result.
