Liverpool star Diogo Jota put the European champions in a comfortable position with goals in the 11th and 36th minute.
However, Aleksander Mitrovic pulled one back for Serbia just after the break before Filip Kostic's 60th minute strike earned the hosts a share of the spoils.

Steven Berghuis put the Dutch ahead near the end of the first half before Luuk De Jong, who came off the bench against the Turks provided the second to see the Dutch third on the standings.
Russia 2-1 Slovenia
Russia picked up their second win in their World Cup qualifying campaign following a 2-1 win over Slovenia in Group L.

Croatia 1-0 Cyprus
Croatia collected their first win on their road to Qatar as a solitary strike led to a 1-0 victory over Cyprus in a Group H encounter.
Captain Luka Modric became the Croats most capped player after making his 135th international appearance for the side as he featured alongside Marcelo Brozovic.
The strike that separated the two sides came in the latter stages of the first half through Atalanta's Mario Pasalic, with the Croats next assignment against Malta on Tuesday.
Norway 0-3 Turkey
Turkey engineered back-to-back wins to extend their lead at the top of Group G following a 3-0 victory away to Norway.
A brace either side of the half from Ozan Tufan was complemented by Caglar Soyuncu's sole effort, as the Norwegians had Kristian Thorstvedt dismissed in the closing stages to fulltime.
Up next for the Turks is a home tie against Latvia, while Norway visit the city of Podgorica to take on Montenegro.
