2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Wrap

Germany secured qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals after engineering a 4-0 victory over North Macedonia on Monday.

It was goalless at halftime, but a quick brace from Timo Werner followed with goals from Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala led Die Mannscahft to victory and the finals next year.

The Germans next assignment which is November will be against Liechtenstein at home before they round their journey away to Armenia who lost 1-0 to Romania in the night's other clash.

Netherlands took another gigantic step towards the World Cup finals with a 6-0 drubbing off Gibraltar out at the De Kuip Arena.

The goals came from Virgil Van Dijk, Denzel Dumfries, Arnaut Danjuma, Donyell Malen followed by a brace from Memphis Depay with one of the strikes coming from the penalty-spot.

Wales revived their qualification hopes out at the Le Coq Arena through a 1-0 win over Estonia in Group E.

The Welsh lost a bit of ground with the top-two on Friday following an entertaining 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic, as Keith Moore's first half strike proved the winner in the end.

Russia took one step towards the finals next year in Qatar following a 2-1 victory over Slovenia out at the Ljudski vrt Stadium.

The visitors made the opening in the first half through Igor Diveev and fellow centre-back Georgi Dzhikiya, whilst Josip Ilicic handed Slovenia a consolation.
