African FIFA World Cup Qualifying Wrap

Nigeria were left stunned by the Central African Republic, who struck a late blow to see out a 1-0 win in a Group C 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

The Super Eagles still lead the group though, whilst the visitors moved off the bottom following the win which came at the death through Karl Namnganda.

Nigeria will look to avenge this loss in the return encounter on Sunday to in-turn get their World Cup qualifying campaign back on track.

Tunisia's hundred percent start to their qualifying campaign in Group B signalled a 3-0 victory over bottom-dwellers Mauritania.

Uganda finally made a winning start to their qualifying campaign in Group E courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Rwanda away from home.

The Cranes started their campaign with back-to-back draws, as Fahad Bayo's first half strike ensured such does not occur in the city of Kigali.

Mali showed their East African counterparts Kenya no mercy with a 5-0 drubbing at the Stade Adrar to move clear at the top of Group E.

Ibrahima Kone's first half hat-trick handed Mali the perfect platform in addition to Adama Traore's opener whilst Moussa Doumbia added the icing on the cake.
