Argentina & Brazil record wins in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers

After being held to a 1-1 draw by Paraguay in their previous fixture, Argentina bounced back in style on Wednesday morning by recording an impressive 2-0 win over Peru, courtesy of goals from Nicolas Gonzalez and Lautaro Martinez.

The result saw La Albiceleste maintain their record of not having lost an away match to Peru for 35 years, while Lionel Messi climbed to within five appearances of Javier Mascherano's all-time appearance record for the national team.

Arthur opened the scoring for the Selecao with his first senior international goal before Richarlison doubled Brazil's lead on the stroke of half-time, while matters got worse for Uruguay in the second stanza when Edinson Cavani was shown a straight red card.

In other results, Venezuela recorded a surprise 2-1 win over Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia played out an entertaining 2-2 draw and 10-man Ecuador stunned Colombia 6-1, with six different players finding the back of the net for La Tri.
