Brazil vs Argentina suspended after failing to follow health regulations

The FIFA World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina was abandoned after health officials stormed the field to remove four Argentine players.

The match played in Sao Paulo started, but was halted minutes from the start after four players allegedly falsified Covid-19 documents, according to the Daily Mirror.

No less than four Premier League players that play for Argentina face the brunt of "lying" on documents that they filed to gain entry into Brazil for the match.

Aston Villa duo Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia as well as Tottenham Hotspur's Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero are the players in question.

The game has been suspended, the South American football federation have confirmed:

According to ESPN Brasil, FIFA, along with the Federal Government and CONMEBOL, managed to strike an agreement to have all four of the players available to play the encounter.

This, however, changed within minutes of the start of the game when Brazil's health authority Anvisa entered the pitch along with the police and ordered the match to be stopped until the four players were off the field and detained.

Rules pertaining to Covid-19 regulations in Brazil is of such a nature that any person entering the country from the United Kingdom must observe a 14-day isolation period, which the four players didn't do.
