'Angry Messi told me to stop drinking, I ignored him!'

Sergio Aguero has revealed that he made Lionel Messi angry when he ignored the superstar's advice to stop drinking during Argentina's 2022 FIFA World Cup celebrations.

La Albiceleste won their third World Cup title in Qatar in December, with Messi securing the Golden Ball award for being the best player at the tournament.

Following Argentina's penalty shootout victory over France, major celebrations ensued on the pitch, with a jubilant Aguero joining his former international teammates on the field despite retiring from the professional game in 2021 due to a heart condition.

The Manchester City legend has now revealed that he may have had a bit too much to drink on the night, so much so that he made Messi angry.

"I drank a lot but I didn't eat," the 34-year-old said on his Twitch stream, per TyC Sports.

"We were world champions. If something were to happen to me, let it be there.

"Leo [Messi] got angry and told me 'stop'.

"How [do I] stop? We are world champions, so happy."

With Messi having been seen on the retired footballer's shoulders during the celebrations, Aguero also revealed how this almost resulted in him ending up in the hospital.

"I lifted the best in the world," the legendary striker added.

"Of course, my back hurt a lot. When I raised him, I said: 'S***. He weighs.'

"I moved my shoulders so that he would jump, but they started to get some stitches in my back.

"At one point, I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't even turn around. If I turned around, I would end up in a hospital.

"He realised it because I looked at him, we exchanged glances.

"I said: 'All good, you're world champion, but my back hurts.'

"And there he got off. He was on his knees afterwards."
