OFFICIAL: Ghana coach steps down after World Cup exit

Ghana coach Otto Addo has resigned from his position after the side's exit at the FIFA World Cup on Friday night.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 to defeat to old foes Uruguay in their final Group F game, ending their World Cup journey.

Ghana only needed a point from the final game to secure a spot in the round of 16.

However, Addo has revealed it always his intention to step down from the role as soon as the World Cup ended.

"I said it before when I started as assistant coach last year that it was clear I would stop after the World Cup,' Addo said, as per Daily Mail.

"At the moment me and my family see our future in Germany and I like my role at Dortmund and we are very happy there.

"From the day I started I said if we qualified I would resign after the World Cup, even if we are champions."

Addo replaced Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac in February and guided the Black Stars to the World Cup.

The 47-year-old will now return to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, where he works as a talent coach.
