Brazil's medical staff have offered an update regarding Neymar, who was left in tears after taking a heavy knock to an ankle during their 2022 FIFA World Cup opener on Thursday night.
The five-time world champions secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Serbia, but the match was marred by an injury suffered by Neymar.

A Nikola Milenkovic challenge appeared to hurt the 30-year-old's ankle, but the winger continued playing before Manchester United's Antony replaced him in the 80th minute, with the Paris Saint-Germain superstar visibly limping off the pitch.
Following the substitution, the Brazil medical team put ice on Neymar's ankle, while a number of Selecao members consoled the player, who appeared to be distraught at the prospect of suffering another injury during a World Cup.
In the 2014 edition of the tournament in Brazil, he sustained a back fracture that forced the host nation to continue the competition without their talisman.
Brazil doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has now revealed that they will have to wait 24 to 48 hours to find out whether or not the former FC Barcelona star will be fit for their next clash against Switzerland on Monday.
"Neymar has an injury on his right ankle, a direct trauma," he said, per ESPN.
"Due to the impact from the knee of the Serbian player, we started immediate treatment on the bench.
"He continues with the physio, but now need to wait 24 to 48 hours for a better assessment.
"There is no MRI scan scheduled, but tomorrow we will make a new assessment. We need to wait and cannot make any premature comments.
"He felt this pain throughout the game, but chose to stay on the pitch to help his team for 11 minutes after his injury.
"It's remarkable that he did this."
Brazil head coach Tite is staying positive regarding the Selecao talisman, though, and is convinced his World Cup is not over.
"He stayed for the two goals we scored even feeling his ankle injury because the team needed him," the 61-year-old said, per ESPN.
"In the two chances and the chance he was in, which [was decisive], his ability to overcome pain. In both goals he was already feeling it.

"You can be sure that Neymar will play the World Cup.
"I am absolutely sure about that. He will play in the World Cup."
