Bale rejoined Spurs last week when he signed a season-long loan deal with the club, bringing to an end a bitter feud between himself and the reigning champions that had spanned the course of the past few seasons.
Despite helping Real to 13 major honours during his time in Madrid, the 31-year-old's spell at the Santiago Bernabeu has been marred by off-field controversies and a string of fallouts with the club's management and supporters.
With Bale having now returned to London, his agent has hit out at Los Blancos for the way that the six-time Welsh Footballer of the Year was treated and defended his client against a host of accusations that had been made against him.
Barnett also hit out at the media in Spain and the United Kingdom for the way they portrayed Bale throughout his time with Real, insisting he deserved more respect for what he achieved on the pitch.
"This country should be very proud of him, Great Britain should be very proud of him. Stop knocking him and write what he's done and what he's achieved.
"It's very annoying, and it's the same with Real Madrid and what he's achieved for them. They should be kissing the floor he walks on."
