Rampant Barca net five to maintain unbeaten record

Reigning LaLiga champions FC Barcelona thumped Real Betis 5-0 to move top of the table on Saturday night.

New boys Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix were handed their first starts by Barca,  as Lamine Yamal, Ilkay Gundogan and Sergi Roberto were named on the bench.

Cancelo was fired up seven minutes in and after playing one-two, drilled well over target following a cut-in from the right of the offensive area.

Barca did made their confident start count as Felix brought Oriol Romeu's long ball under control following 25 minutes and rounded goalkeeper Rui Silva to find the bottom-corner.

It was two after eight minutes when Andreas Christensen played in Robert Lewandowski, who made no mistake with a well-taken finish in off the foot of the far post.

The visiting team had a huge chance to get one back through a side-footed attempt in the area by Willian Jose from a searching ball, but goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen made a tremendous one-hand stop.

Betis brought on two changes following halftime after Silva's injury saw Fran Vieites enter before former Barca man Abde Ezzalzouli came on for his debut when he replaced Luiz Henrique.

The Blaugrana still dominated past the 60th minute and got a third goal when Torres drilled home a low free-kick around the defensive wall and into the net.

It was the forward's last contribution as he was replaced by Raphinha, who immediately got in on the act when he collected a low pass to rifle past Vieites and give the host a fourth goal.

Betis were totally on the back-foot ten minutes to the end and conceded a fifth goal after Cancelo sold Juan Miranda on the shoulder of the area and found the net.

The Catalans in the end marched to a remarkable victory to continue their strong start to the season, with Betis well beaten.
