Atletico Madrid struck late in the second half to rescue a 1-1 draw against city rivals Real Madrid on Sunday night.
Rodrygo, Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal and Eduardo Camavinga were recalled to the Los Blancos line-up, as Antonio Rudiger, Aurelien Tchouameni, Luka Modric and Joselu dropped to the bench.
The two sides meet two weeks after Atletico claimed the spoils in the Copa del Rey round 16, with Los Blancos looking to extend their lead at the top of the table after Girona dropped points against Real Sociedad.
Carlo Ancelotti's men would get the breakthrough after 19 minutes, with Brahim Diaz getting his fourth league goal of the campaign with a close-range finish after a scramble in the box.
At the other end of the pitch, Los Blancos goalkeeper Andriy Lunin barely had a save to make in the opening 45 minutes as the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata were kept quiet.
Atletico had the ball in the back of the net two minutes after the break through Stefan Savic's header but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotted Alvaro Morata in offside postion as he was obstructing Lunin.
There was another moment of drama as Jude Bellingham was bundled off the ball by Savic in the box but the referee waved away the appeals while VAR did not intervene on the incident.
The visitors had a big chance to pull themselves level with 13 minutes to play as Angel Correa broke free down the right flank before picking out Griezmann, who was denied by Lunin at the near post.
Atletico managed to snatch a point in second-half stoppage time when Memphis Depay flicked the ball into the path of former Madrid player Marco Llorente, who popped up in the box to head home from close range.
