Bellingham leads late comeback victory for Real

Ten-man Real Madrid produced a late comeback to overcome Valencia 2-1 and move top of LALIGA on Friday night.

Vinicius Junior returned from injury and regained his position in the eleven ahead of Brahim Diaz while Ferland Mendy replaced Eduardo Camavinga.

Los Che made the visitors quest difficult earlier on and aggressive pressing structure limited the forays of Jude Bellingham, Dani Ceballos and Kylian Mbappe notably.

The sturdy approach reaped dividends just before the half-hour mark when a loose ball in the box granted Hugo Duro space to intervene and riffle in the net.

Madrid attempted a response on the brink of the interval as a foul around the box led to a free-kick in a promising position, but Federico Valverde failed to test Stole Dimitrievski.

Los Blancos were given a route back though ten minutes from the break as Mbappe drew a foul in the box to win a penalty, but Bellingham couldn't make it count.

Mbappe looked to have even it up five minutes later when he rounded Dimitrievski after picking up Bellingham's through pass, but it was called back for offside.

The unfortunate scenario didn't unsettle the visitors who continued to pile forward and saw Rodrygo slam a surging delivery from Aurelien Tchouameni narrowly wide.

Rodrygo was then sacrificed in the last 20 minutes for Diaz before Mendy came on for Camavinga in a double substitution.

Los Blancos' situation became more difficult ten minutes later when Vinicius shown a red card for pushing goalkeeper Dimitrievski as the referee consulted the pitch-side screen.

The numerical disadvantage didn't trouble the visitors who levelled three minutes from time when substitute Luka Modric sneaked in the box to get onto Bellingham's delivery and finished smartly.

Madrid completed the comeback deep in stoppage time as Bellingham latched onto a stray back-pass and curled well-beyond Dimitrievski to send his side top of the table.
