LaLiga release statement on Lionel Messi's saga

The Argentine reportedly did not show up for the club's pre-season tests on Sunday as he claims he is not longer an FC Barcelona player.

It has been reported that there was a clause that woud allow Messi to leave Barcelona for free, although the club insists that clause expired in May and any potential suitor will need to pay to the Argentine's €700million buyout clause.

The league has now stepped in claimed  the release clause must be paid if Messi wants to leave the Camp Nou.
