Munir El Haddadi called up to Morocco squad after FIFA rule change

Born in Spain to a Moroccan father, El Haddadi previously had a request to represent the Atlas Lions denied by FIFA due to the fact that he had previously represented his country of birth in a competitive international fixture.

The new laws allow a player to switch allegiances provided they have only featured in three or less international fixtures, excluding major tournaments, must have been younger than 21 years of age at the time of their last appearance and have had no international activity in the past three years.

El Haddadi was thus eligible to be called up to the latest Morocco squad due to the fact that he was 19 years old at the time of his Spain appearance and has played no international football over the past six years.
