Rodrygo: 'I don't want to be the new Neymar'

Rodrygo also came through the ranks of Brazilian giants Santos as Neymar before securing a big-money move to LaLiga.

The 19-year-old has already been called up to the Brazil national side, but he does not want to known as the new Neymar or Robinho.

"Since I began my career at Santos, they would call me the new Neymar or new Robinho," he told CBF TV, as cited by Marca.

"I've always had that burden on me. But I've always said that I want to be Rodrygo and make my own history.

"Robinho and Neymar are two big idols of Santos, of Brazil and of the clubs they've played for.

"But I have only just started and I am not thinking about being the new Neymar. There's only one Neymar.

"Since the start (of my career) I've always had this burden, but I continue wanting to be Rodrygo and not the new Neymar."
