Surprise star who told Greenwood to make Spain move 'revealed'

The surprise star who advised Mason Greenwood to make the move to his new team in Spain has now reportedly been revealed.

It has emerged that Real Madrid ace Jude Bellingham played a vital role in the Manchester United forward's decision to take his career to LALIGA on loan after the English giants decided he would no longer play for them.

This is according to Getafe manager Jose Bordalas, who has been very excited to have Greenwood on board, having already proclaimed him to be the best player in their history.

"It was a surprise, we never thought we could get a player like that," the Spanish tactician told Radio Marca.

"But they got in touch with our sporting director, we talked, we didn't think it could happen but both sides made an effort [financially].

"Greenwood is friends with Bellingham, and he advised him to come to the Spanish league."

The 21-year-old joined Geta Azulones on transfer deadline day following United's decision to put him on the transfer market.

During his unveiling in front of supporters at the Coliseum stadium in Madrid, Greenwood received a warm welcome from the club's fans, and before even kicking a ball for the club, the forward has already broken a record.

Following the Manchester loanee's switch, in little more than a week, more Getafe shirts with his name on the back have been sold than any other player in the club's history, according to the Daily Mail's Mike Keegan.

United decided to part ways with the player after concluding an internal investigation into the incident that saw him being arrested on charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in January 2022.
