WATCH: Barca-Atletico clash gets violent

Two former Manchester City players received red cards as they went to war during the LaLiga clash between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.

The Catalan giants beat Diego Simeone's side 1-0 in the LaLiga tie courtesy of Ousmane Dembele's winner, with the win seeing the Blaugrana go three points clear at the top of the table following Real Madrid's loss to Villarreal on Saturday.

However, the match's biggest talking point took place in the 92nd minute when Los Rojiblancos defender Stefan Savic and Barca forward Ferran Torres momentarily lost their tempers.

The former Citizens duo were competing for a loose ball when the situation quickly escalated as the Spain star proceeded to pull the centre-back's hair while grappling him, with shoves and headlocks following during an action-filled number of seconds.

Savic and Torres eventually pushed each other away, but the pair saw red cards for their WWE-style scramble.

The Montenegrin defender then appeared to argue his case with the fourth official and had to be calmed down by Atletico staff after almost going head to head with the referee.

After his team's latest victory, Barca manager Xavi Hernandez said his men are now candidates to win the league title.

"These are three golden points," the Spanish tactician said, per Sport.

"We knew how to suffer.

"It's important to have kept a clean sheet. Without playing that well, we got the three points.

"It was a tough game but a big win.

"It's not just three points, it's a huge morale boost. I am proud of the team.

"We have made a statement that we are candidates to win the league."
