Agent explains Edinson Cavani's failed transfer

PSG sporting director Leonardo confirmed late last month that the Uruguayan had asked to leave the club after dropping down the pecking down following Mauro Icardi's arrival.

While United and Chelsea were keen, Cavani was edging towards Los Rojiblancos but the Spanish side blamed the representatives for the failed transfer.

However, the Uruguayan's agent and brother, Walter Fernando Guglielmone, has since revealed the Ligue 1 giants did not want to lower their asking price.

"Do you believe that Edi did not play for a month to seal the deal, just for me to receive a commission?" he told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

"If the mess we made with PSG was over money, he would have moved on to England, and Manchester United or Chelsea.

"Edi wanted to move to Atletico, as it was his dream. This has not happened because PSG would not lower their price for Edi, and Atletico could not cover that cost.

"Atletico failed to close the deal with PSG."
