Coupe de France match report Paris Saint-Germain v Saint-Etienne

Paris Saint-Germain added another piece of silverware to their cabinet after beating Saint-Etienne 1-0 in the Coupe de France final on Friday night.

Thomas Tuchel preferred the same eleven that did the damage over Celtic in their last friendly showdown on Monday evening.

Etienne had the clearest opening in just five minutes as a cutback from the left by Denis Bouanga culminated with a low shot off the post, with PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas well beaten.

The French champions took the lead after 14 minutes when Neymar Junior latched onto Jessy Moulin's parry off Kylian Mbappe's strike to thump in off the bar.

Navas ensured no immediate comeback after going down to steer Bouanga's low drive from point-blank range into touch.

PSG were forced into an early change with 20 minutes played, as Thilo Kehrer went down injured on the field with his spot taken by Colin Dagba.

Etienne were down to ten players a minute after the half-hour mark with Loic Perrin given a straight red for the foul on Mbappe after intervention from the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Navas was put to work immediately after halftime as he, along with Marquinhos scurried back to clear Wahbi Khazri's attempt off the line whilst the latter entered at the break.

Khazri was becoming a nuisance following the 60th minute after setting up Bouanga for a first-time volley from the right, but the latter went over the top as time began to run out.

PSG were inches close from sealing the contest through Pablo Sarabia, who after going clear with Moulin, had his low effort parried in the final minutes.

Claude Puel's troops remained relentless, but PSG held out to add the French Cup to the Ligue 1 title this season.
