Former Bafana Bafana star Alton Meiring has explained why, even though he is not a fan of the player, Kylian Mbappe's "crap attitude" will make him the best player in the world.
Meiring enjoyed a 17-year professional career that saw him play for a number of PSL clubs, including Mamelodi Sundowns, Jomo Cosmos and Platinum Stars.
His exploits saw him also make three appearances for Bafana, while he also represented the national team at youth level too.
After retiring from professional football in 2012, he took a break from the game, before returning as a head coach in the ABC Motsepe League.
He has continued to maintain an interest in European football as opposed to the local game, with the former Cape Town Spurs striker saying he does not watch PSL football anymore due to the "poor standard" of it.
When asked who he believes is the best footballer in the world today, Meiring named Mbappe as the player who will take over the mantle from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
"I hate this guy, but he is going to be someone who will knock Ronaldo and Messi off their perch. He has a crap attitude and I do not like that about him, but sometimes you need that arrogance to be the best," he told Kickoff.
"Kevin De Bruyne is another one, I still want to see him playing with another coach because maybe he is just having a good stint [under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City].
"Remember when Mohamed Salah was playing well? All of a sudden he is hitting a bad patch, because in my opinion I feel that Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino was doing a lot of good work for him. They had a good understanding between the three of them.
"I like Salah but now he is going through a difficult moment and his individual play is not good enough for me. But when he played with the other two, he was a lot better. So now I have changed because he is playing crap. At the moment, De Bruyne is the best for me [in the Premier League]."

Meiring also revealed why he is one of few players who do not support a particular team.
"I just like teams who play good football. Your Manchester Citys, for example, they play good football so I like them, but I do not support any team specifically," the 47-year-old added.
"I like the way Pep Guardiola moulds his players, like someone unknown will suddenly become a starter under him. I like those type of environments but not specific teams.
"I also used to watch Barcelona when they had a good spell with Pep.
"Liverpool has been another under Jurgen Klopp, but this season they have been bad."
