Olympique Lyon legend Juninho Pernambucano has accused countryman Neymar of only joining Paris Saint-Germain for the money – accusations that have now started a war of words between the two clubs.
In a scathing message about racial and financial inequalities in Brazil, former Lyon and Selecao midfielder Juninho, who is now the sporting director of the Ligue 1 side, hit out at Neymar as an example of what is wrong with his country's mindset.

"In Brazil, we are taught to care only about money, but in Europe they have a different mentality," Juninho told The Guardian.
"Unconsciously, I made a career plan because I wanted to go to another big club in Brazil, and not to just play for sport. I was taught to go to who would pay me the most. That is the Brazilian way.
"Look at Neymar, he moved to PSG just because of money. PSG gave everything to him, everything he wanted, and now he wants to leave before the end of his contract.

"But now is the time to give back, to show gratitude. It's an exchange, you see. Neymar needs to give everything he can on the pitch, to show total dedication, responsibility and leadership.
"The problem is that the establishment in Brazil has a culture of greed and always want more money. This is what we were taught and what we learned."

PSG have since responded to Juninho's comments through sporting director Leonardo, who is also from Brazil, and demanded that both Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas and Juninho refrain from talking about their club and players.
"I don't understand why Aulas talks so much about PSG, and Juninho now talks about PSG and Neymar," he told RMC Sport.
"It would be better to talk about their club. We are not talking about Lyon's situation and I ask Lyon not to talk about our players and our club."
