PSG suffer first loss despite Mbappe heroics

Kylian Mbappe's brace was not enough for Paris Saint-Germain, who suffered a 3-2 defeat to OGC Nice in Ligue 1 action on Friday night.

Goncalo Ramos was restored for the injured Marco Asensio while Carlos Soler and Danilo replaced Marquinhos and Manuel Ugarte from the win over Olympique Lyon before the international.

Nice were ahead inside the midway stage of the first half when Terem Moffi picked up a loose ball in the area after Kylian Mbappe had given away possession and slotted in.

However, the lead didn't last long as PSG levelled just before the half-hour mark when Mbappe charged onto a smart delivery from Achraf Hakimi and fired in off Marcin Bulka's glove.

Mbappe was close to completing his brace a minute to halftime with a smart attempt towards the top-corner from way out, but he failed to find target.

PSG remained full of courage following the resumption, whilst the visitors were desperate to get back in the lead and have overall control of the encounter.

The visitors did regain the lead five minutes into the second half when Gaetan Laborde made use of a delivery across the area by Moffi and turned home from a tight angle.

Coach Luis Enrique made a substitution for the reigning champions soon after as Ugarte come on from the bench for Soler as the visitors' enjoyed momentum.

It didn't bring an impact as Nice grabbed a third goal when Moffi carved out a yard of space outside the area to curl into the bottom-corner for his second goal of the night.

PSG reduced the tally in the last three minutes after a teasing cross from Kolo Muani found Mbappe, who drilled an audacious half-volley into the far post.

However, the visitors survived the late onslaught and claimed victory to leapfrog the title holders to second spot on the table.
