PSG thrash Marseille in Le Classique

Paris Saint-Germain claimed the bragging rights in Le Classique with a 4-0 victory over Olympique Marseille on Sunday evening.

Marquinhos, Manuel Ugarte, Bradley Barcola and Kolo Muani were welcomed back by the host, as Danilo Pereira, Carlos Soler, Vitinha and Goncalo Ramos moved out.

The host quickly set the wheels in motion four minutes in when Achraf Hakimi stepped forth following a free-kick and beat the defensive wall to find the top-corner.

Marseille battled to get a foot-hold moments later as strong piece of defending by the returning Marquinhos kept Renan Lodi and Jordan Veretout particularly at bay.

Although, PSG were required to make a change a minute past the half-hour mark as Kylian Mbappe battled to continue following a muscle pull and saw Ramos come on.

The momentum continued the way of the home team, who extended their lead just before halftime as Muani made the most of a loose ball from the post following Hakimi's shot and found the net.

Marseille, who struggled to get any sort of rhythm, showed a double change after halftime in Iliman Ndiaye for Vitor Oliveira before Azz-Eddine Onuahi took the place of Amine Harit.

The arrivals didn't bother the host as Ramos beat Chancel Mbemba to Ousmane Dembele's ball and send a diving header past the outstretched gloves of Anthony Lopez.

As Luis Enrique's men had the advantage, the visitors first shot in anger came ten minutes later when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang worked an opening from way out and drew Gianluigi Donnarumma to a save.

Marseille launched yet another threat over the midway point of the second half as Mbemba directed Veretout's pin-point corner wide of target.

The host didn't succumb to the spell of pressure and claimed a fourth through a nicely taken finish by Ramos after a defensive mix-up, as the match concluded.
