Messi urged to join LaLiga club, promised number 10 jersey

Argentina world cup winner Rodrigo de Paul has invited his countryman Lionel Messi to join LaLiga side Atletico Madrid next season.

Messi's future at Paris Saint-Germain remains unclear as he has three months left on his current deal and there has been no indication over an extension just yet.

The 35-year-old has been linked with a return to Barcelona, while Major League Soccer side Inter Miami have already confirmed their intensions to sign the World Cup winner.

De Paul has now issued an invite to his friend and international teammate to make the switch to the Spanish capital.

"Let [Messi] come here. We tell Angelito [Correa] to give him 10 and we look for an apartment in the center of Madrid," De Paul told "El Larguero.

De Paul went on to wax lyrical about the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, who has registered 18 goals and 17 assists this season.

"What Leo Messi does is magic," he added.

"You live with the surprise of what he's going to do and you never finish understanding it. He's an alien.

"When you think he doesn't see you, he leaves you alone against the goalkeeper; when you think he's tired, he has a march more… it never ceases to amaze you."
