Messi 'decides' his next club

Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi has now reportedly made his final call on which club he will join next.

The Argentine has become one of the most highly sought-after players in recent months, with his PSG deal set to expire June.

While other clubs had previously shown serious interest in snapping him up earlier this season, it has been claimed earlier this month that Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of the forward.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas recently poured some cold water on the superstar's potential return to the Catalan giants, but added that it is still possible.

Despite the Spanish club being ready to make financial room for Messi, it remained unclear if the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner himself desired a return to his former club.

According to the Daily Mail, however, the 35-year-old has now decided he wants to rejoin Barcelona, and not extend his stay at PSG.

It is said the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is willing to earn a lot less than he is currently receiving with the Ligue 1 leaders in order to make the move back to Spain.

The report adds that a big reason for him wanting a Blaugrana homecoming is that his family desires a return to Spain, while the footballer himself is also adamant to continue his playing days in Europe.

Recent reports suggested that the Spanish giants will offer Messi a two-year deal worth €12 million (R239 million) a season to rejoin them, a huge pay cut on his current earnings in France.

However, Barca still need to raise serious funds, largely in player sales, before they can sign anyone in the next transfer window.

It has been suggested that Ferran Torres, Franck Kessie, Eric Garcia, Raphinha and Ansu Fati are among those who could be sold by the Blaugrana  to generate income and lower their wage bill.
