PSG president reveals honest thoughts on CAFCL final

With Al Ahly clinching a record 11th CAF Champions League title on Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has now revealed his thoughts on the final.

The Egyptian giants overcame Wydad Casablanca after the two sides drew 1-1 in the second leg in Morocco to claim a 3-2 aggregate win over the hosts at the Mohammed V Stadium.

Their record-extending title means they now have six more competition trophies than the second-most successful teams in the tournament's history, namely TP Mazembe of the DR Congo and arch-rivals Zamalek, who have five each.

With the spectacle taking place in front of a 60 000-capacity crowd, PSG's president was also in attendance at the stadium on Sunday after receiving a private invitation.

The Qatari businessman has since revealed he was impressed with the high standard of the game.

"These African matches are great and almost reach the level of European matches," he told beIN Media, a company he is chairman of.

"They need more support as Africa is one of the biggest continents in football.

"Football is greater than scoring goals, winning championships and awards; it is reaching humanity, helping societies to each other, as well as helping other continents."
