Shock club 'joins race' for Mane's signature

Another shock club has now reportedly joined the race to sign Sadio Mane.

Despite heavy speculation over his future, the Senegal international has remained mum on subject, although some of his colleagues have spoken openly his situation.

After just one season in Germany, the 31-year-old could already be set for a departure, with Bayern Munich reportedly willing to part ways with the player following an underwhelming debut campaign that was interrupted by a lengthy injury lay-off between November 2022 and February 2023.

He was also charged with misconduct by the club back in March for punching teammate Leroy Sane, and was given a fine and a one-game suspension.

The Bavarians are now believed to be willing to cut their losses completely, with Mane reportedly being the subject of a proposed swap deal involving Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus, while he has also been linked with a switch to Real Madrid as well as a few Premier League clubs.

However, he has now become the latest high-profile star to be linked with a sensational transfer to Saudi Arabia.

According to New Arab, Al Ettifaq are interested in signing the former Liverpool star.

This news comes as the same club reportedly gets ready to announce Reds legend Steven Gerrard as their manager too.

Gerrard's appointment is yet to be confirmed, but he has been seen in Saudi Arabia this week.

Mane would be a marquee arrival for not only Ettifaq but the Saudi Pro League as a whole as they look to globalise the division in order to become one of the best leagues in the world.

The forward remains under contract until 2025 at the Allianz Arena, though, and there have also been strong suggestions Mane wants to stay on and fight for his place in Thomas Tuchel's side.
