'We would like to see Messi & Ronaldo in the same league again'

General secretary of Saudi Arabia's Football Federation Ibrahim Alkassim has discussed Lionel Messi's links with the Saudi Pro League.

Messi was in Saudi Arabia on Thursday with Paris Saint-Germain, who defeated a Saudi Arabia All-Star XI led by Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday night.

The PSG forward is set to be a free agent at the end of the season as things stand, although various reports in Europe claim he will extend with the club.

Ronaldo recently moved to Al-Nassr on a free transfer and Messi has now been linked with a move to Al Hilal, who are Nassr's biggest rivals.

However, Alkassim says he knows nothing about the Barcelona legend plying his trade in the middle east.

"At the moment we do not know anything about a possible Lionel Messi arrival," Alkassim told Marca.

"Although I do not hide that, as Saudi Federation, we would like to have him one day in the domestic league.

"The idea of the Federation is always to improve our football, and of course we would like to see Cristiano and Messi in the same league again.

"But the truth is that we don't know anything now."

Messi and PSG will resume domestic matters with a French Cup encounter on Monday night.
