Top manager 'accepts' PSG job

A certain high-profile manager has now reportedly agreed to become Paris Saint-Germain's next permanent head coach.

According to reports in France, the club parted ways with manager Christophe Galtier earlier this month, although no official announcement has confirmed this.

PSG are said to have been pursuing former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann for the position for weeks but negotiations reportedly fell apart recently, forcing the French giants to explore other candidates, including Mikel Arteta, Xabi Alonso, Thiago Motta and Luis Enrique.

According to L'Equipe, the latter has now accepted PSG's offer of two seasons, with an option to extend for a third, to step into their hot seat.

The report claims that the former Spain manager does not imagine staying short-term at the Parc des Princes, and thus wants to be heavily involved in the club's transfer business in this window.

Final details regarding Enrique's desired coaching staff and contracts will reportedly be concluded in the next few days, while the French media outlet also suggested that he feels PSG's current midfield options do not meet his requirements.

Should he get the job, one of the calls he is expected to make will regard the future of Neymar, whom the club is keen to offload unless the Spanish tactician decides otherwise given that he coached the Brazilian at FC Barcelona between 2014 and 2017.
