Why Mbappe wants to leave PSG 'revealed'

With Kylian Mbappe reportedly looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain, the reasons behind his shock desire for an exit appear to have been revealed.

On Monday, news broke that the France forward is pushing to leave PSG in January as his relationship with the club had broken down.

This comes just five months after Mbappe signed a new three-year deal with the Ligue 1 reigning champions, one that made him the best-paid player in the world.

While reports suggest the French superstar wants to join Real Madrid, Christophe Galtier's side have been said to only be willing to sell him to Liverpool following their ongoing battle with Los Blancos for the Frenchman's signature in the past couple of years.

There have since been denials from the Les Parisiens camp that Mbappe wants to leave, but French football expert Julien Laurens has told the BBC that the 23-year-old feels "betrayed" after the club's hierarchy failed to deliver on a number of promises made prior to him signing his extension.

Per Laurens, Mbappe was told by PSG that they would sign a top out-and-out striker so he can play in what he feels is his best position off a No. 9, while it was promised that Neymar would also be sold.

It is claimed the Les Bleus forward was also assured that a new centre-back would be signed, and that he would be the face of the project, although it is arguably Neymar and Lionel Messi who have shone most so far for the French giants in this campaign.

However, none of these things have happened, reportedly resulting in serious tension between the player and the club.

Mbappe is believed to now feel his decision to renew his deal in May was a mistake, and is said to have made up his mind to leave PSG in the next transfer window.

Laurens added that most clubs will not be in a position to afford his services in January, which could result in the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner having to stay in Paris until the end of the 2022/23 season before securing a move away from the Parc des Princes.
