Manchester United have now officially announced their second signing of the January transfer window, having landed the services of a 2022 FIFA World Cup star.
After the Red Devils signed former England goalkeeper Jack Butland from Crystal Palace on loan for the remainder of the season last week, the club has now confirmed the acquisition of Netherlands centre-forward Wout Weghorst on a six-month loan deal from Championship outfit Burnley.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United agreed to pay Turkish outfit Besiktas, where Weghorst was on loan for the first half of the season, a fee in the region of €3 million (R54 million) as compensation to terminate his season-long stay in Turkey in favour of a switch to Old Trafford.
The Dutch marksman's move to Manchester comes off the back of an impressive display at the World Cup in Qatar, where he most notably bagged a late brace in the Netherlands' quarter-final against Argentina to take the game to extra-time and eventually penalties, where his team were eliminated.

With Weghorst having scored nine goals and provided four assists in 16 matches for Besiktas, United boss Erik ten Hag will be hoping he continues to bang in the goals, with the striker set to challenge for a chance to lead the Red Devils' line following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure in November.
