'Ronaldo wasn't too happy with me when...'

A Manchester United star has revealed the reason his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo "wasn't too happy" with him prior to his departure in November 2022.

The Red Devils have enjoyed relative success this season, winning their first trophy in six seasons earlier this year and having also qualified for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League after finishing third in the Premier League with their highest points total since the 2017/18 campaign under Jose Mourinho.

They will also take on town rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final this Saturday, with a win set to see them equal Arsenal's record of 13 titles in the tournament.

However, Erik ten Hag's debut campaign has not been without incident, with Ronaldo's abrupt exit in November being one of the most contentious moments of the season.

It seems the Portuguese superstar's departure has created more dead-ball opportunities for his former teammates at Old Trafford, with Christian Eriksen now revealing that the Portuguese superstar used to get annoyed with him when it came to taking free-kicks.

Speaking to ex-United star Owen Hargreaves in a free-kick masterclass for the club's official website, the 31-year-old Dane said: "Even now at the club we have multiple takers who, if he's had a good day, he's going to have it [take the free-kick].

"[Eriksen, Fernandes] and Rashy. They're probably the three, and Ronaldo when he was here, obviously.

"I did take one [instead of Ronaldo], I think, but he wasn't too happy with that!

"But then with the three we have now, it's where we are on the pitch, how people are feeling, so it's like 'you had the last one, I'll have the next one.'"
