Ten Hag makes decision on 5 Man Utd stars

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that a transfer decision has been reached regarding five of the club's first-team regulars.

The Red Devils have found themselves in a precarious situation in middle of the 2022/23 season, with as many as five senior stars having less than a year left on their respective deals at Old Trafford.

The players who could thus leave United for free at the end of this campaign are David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Fred and Marcus Rashford.

The latter has found himself on Paris Saint-Germain's radar in recent months, with the French side's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently admitting that the proposition of signing the England international for free is one they cannot ignore.

However, Ten Hag has confirmed that the Red Devils will be exercising the option of a one-year extension on the stars whose contracts are expiring this season.

"We are talking with them to extend their contracts but we are in control because on all the players we have options and we will exercise these options," the Dutchman said, per the Daily Mail

The head coach was then asked specifically about De Gea's situation amid talk of United's interest in Borussia Monchengladbach shot-stopper Yann Sommer.

"Like I say, we have options and we will do them," the manager answered.

Ten Hag was also quizzed as to whether or not having this many players on the brink of their contracts expiring puts the club in a vulnerable situation.

"You can see it this way, but if the decision is not that good, we have other options," the former Ajax Amsterdam boss explained.
