CEO 'confirms' Greenwood's Man Utd future after loan move

With Mason Greenwood having been sent out on loan to Getafe, Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold has now reportedly confirmed the player's future at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old made his Getafe debut this past weekend, making a 13-minute cameo in his first game in 20 months since being sidelined due to rape and assault charges.

Although the case was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023, the striker has since been loaned out for the 2023/24 season after the club conducted a six-month internal investigation into the matter.

With uncertainty over whether he will be re-integrated into manager Erik ten Hag's squad again next year or sold permanently, the CEO is now believed to have confirmed the club's stance on the player.

According to The Athletic, Arnold confirmed that there is "no expectation of Mason Greenwood playing for Manchester United."

The centre-forward has a contract with the Red Devils until June 2025, however, it is now suggested that his time at the Theatre of Dreams in over after the decision-makers held a special meeting to discuss how to handle Greenwood and Antony's case after the latter was put on absence of leave after he was accused of domestic abuse by three women.

Greenwood's former boot sponsor Nike also recently maintained that the marksman is no longer one of their athletes, despite the fact that he was wearing their boots during his first game back.

According to GB News, a Nike spokesperson said; "The statement still holds true. Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete."
