According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, the move was threatened to be delayed, but talks between the Hammers and the fullback's representatives took place on Sunday evening, during which any issue was resolved.
The 26-year-old is said to have completed a medical on Monday morning before signing a seven-year deal that will keep him at the London-based side until 2031.
Wan-Bissaka will form a part of Julen Lopetegui's new-look backline that is set to feature new signings Jean-Clair Todibo, who joined the Hammers on a loan deal from OGC Nice, and former Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Max Kilman.
The right-back praised the team spirit within the West Ham camp, and said that it was a "no-brainer" when it came to making the decision to join the EPL side.
"I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others' backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad," the player said, per the the Hammers' official website.
"It was a no-brainer for me to join West Ham – I'm excited and happy to be here.
"It's an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I'm excited for what's coming.
"I was born here, so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a big part in my life, so to be back playing in this city means a lot to me.
"I'm happy to be here, am grateful for the warm welcome, and I am excited to be playing for the Club and will give it my all.
"I can't wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there."
Meanwhile, technical director Tim Steidten expressed his delight at the signing and was full of praise for the defender.
"I am delighted we've been able to get the deal to sign Aaron over the line," he said.
"He's exactly the type of player we're looking to attract to this Club in the prime years of his career.
"He's an incredibly talented defender who we rate very highly – superb in one-on-one situations. He's versatile too, which is clearly another positive.
"He's played over 170 Premier League games during his career – he knows the division inside-out."
Since joining United from Crystal Palace in 2019, the Englishman made 190 first-team appearances for the Manchester side.
However, during the course of the 2023/24 campaign, he looked to be the second-choice right-back under manager Erik ten Hag, with Diogo Dalot seemingly the Dutchman's preferred choice for that position.

With Wan-Bissaka now having completed his move to the London Stadium, the defender will be looking to stamp his authority on the side and solidify himself as Lopetegui's first-choice right-back.
