Man Utd 'confirm' final Greenwood resolution

Mason Greenwood's Manchester United future has now reportedly reached a final resolution.

The Premier League giants have decided that the forward has no future at Old Trafford even if he does resoundingly well while on loan to LALIGA side Getafe, and have let him know of this final call, according to the Daily Express.

After much scrutiny, it was decided that the England international would have to pursue a return to football elsewhere after charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault against him were dropped earlier this year.

Greenwood had not played professional football since he was arrested on the above charges since January 2022 before securing a loan move to the Spanish side on transfer deadline day.

He has since made five appearances, scoring a goal and creating another in the process.

However, while there was speculation a re-emergence at Old Trafford could have been on the cards as United has not yet completely cut their ties with Greenwood, a return to Manchester is now believed to be out of the question.

It is said that, after internal conversations held by the club's hierarchy, a plan to reconstruct his future away from the Red Devils has been put into place, with the Red Devils said to be hopeful that a good spell at Getafe will lead to more suitors being willing to snap him up at the end of this season.

Earlier this week, though, it was reported that the striker himself is eager to extend his stay at Getafe on a permanent basis.

"The players and fans have all given him a welcome he could only have dreamed of," a source said, as per The Sun.

"He really feared his career was over. Now he's just so happy and wants to carry on playing and not think too far ahead."
